Overview

Progressive levels focusing on floor, beam, bar, and vault skills, from handstands and cartwheels to aerials and back walkovers.

Gymnastics I: Introduction and emphasis on guiding students to develop level 1 gymnastics skills on floor, beam, bar, and vault. Students will be able to demonstrate and perform the following tricks: ¾ handstand, forward roll, backward roll, 30” split jump, 30” lever, cartwheel, one handed cartwheel, straight jump, tuck jump, straddle jump, bridge walk, backbend kickover, and more. They will stretch in each class and practice basic strength exercises that will later help them with their tricks in the floor and apparatuses.

Gymnastics II: Introduction to intermediate skills of gymnastics. Students will now be introduced to tricks that require strength, body control, coordination, and flexibility. These skills will also be transferred to the apparatuses where they will be learning new and more complex tricks. They will stretch in each class and practice basic strength exercises that will later help them with their tricks in the floor and apparatuses. Students will be able to demonstrate and perform the following tricks: Handstand, forward roll to stand, backward roll to stand, split jump, lever, one handed cartwheel, round-off, backbend kickover, tuck jump, straight jump, straddle jump, dive roll, headstands, chinstands, and more.

Gymnastics III: Students will practice intermediate level gymnastics skills on the floor and on the apparatuses. They will stretch in each class and practice basic strength exercises that will later help them with their tricks in the floor and apparatuses. Students will be able to demonstrate and perform the following tricks: one hand cartwheel, introduction to aerial, round-off, handstand, headstand, shoulderstand, chin stand, back kickover, front walkover, back extension roll, front limber, arabian, in/out bridge, turning tinsica, and many more.
